Conductor and a composer ELISAR RIDDELIN is currently pursuing a master’s degree in conducting at the prestigious Sibelius-Academy in Helsinki under the guidance of Sakari Oramo. He previously studied in Sweden at The Royal College of Musik Stockholm with B. Tommy Andersson and in Germany at Hochschule für Music Würzburg with Professor Ari Rasilainen.
Highlights of the last season included the premiere of his violin concerto Loviatar with Turku Philharmonic orchestra, debut with Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and Joensuu, Lappeenranta and Jyväskylä City Orchestra, Avanti
masterclass with Göteborg Opera, National Youth Orchestra Vivo and performance of his french horn quintet in Basel at Feeling white and blue festival. Upcoming debuts on season 24-25 will include Oulu Symphony, Pori Sinfonietta and Helsinki Chamber Soloists at the national Porvoo cello competition. He will also be returning to Kirkkonummi chamber orchestra.
Riddelin has had also masterclasses with orchestras such as Rheinland-Phalz Philharmonics, Finnish Radio orchestra, Swedish Radio Orchestra, Hoffer Philharmonics, Norrköping Symphony, Gävle symphony, Västerås-, Dala
Sinfonietta, Vaasa- and Mikkeli city orchestras. Riddelin founded the Caprico Orchestra which focuses on contemporary music and has premiered over 20 new works for chamber orchestra from young Finnish composers. As a composer, Riddelin’s works have been frequently performed in festivals such as Helsinki Festival, Sysmä Summer Sounds, Musequal and Kajaanin runoviikot. His works have been performed throughout Europe in France, Luxemburg and Germany. He has been recipient of scholarships and awards, including Young Musician of the Year by Pro Musica Foundation and grants from the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
